Diagnostic evaluation

As a child and adolescent psychiatrist I try to help with anything that worries or troubles children, adolescents and their families (problems with relationships, behavior, food, sleep, school, toilet training, anxiety, fears, depression etc.) and if there are indications for a pathologic (organic) problem I suggest the performance of medical tests in order to exclude or confirm and treat it.

I collaborate with my clients by discussing with the members of the family that are willing to participate in each session. I am trying to understand the position and the difficulties of each person, their efforts to solve the problems and the goals they want to achieve through our partnership.

I usually ask about the members of the family, about important facts in their lives, about the influence of the problem on them and also about the influence of their efforts on the problem.

This information is useful for me in order to obtain a basic understanding which I will share with the family and will use to explain anything I may suggest.  In each session we discuss regarding tasks and practices that fit the individual and family preferences in order to deal with the problems and to improve their lives.
